AN OVER VIEW OF THE HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS AND YOGA
There are many similar aims and objectives within the Syllabus that are reflected within a Yoga class and Yoga philosophy.
NSW Personal Development Health and Physical Education Syllabus “ This syllabus is based on the broad notion of health that encompasses all aspects of an individuals wellbeing, inclusive of social, mental, physical, and spiritual health“ 2. Yoga enhances and encourages a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A sense of personal wellbeing is essential to understand and affect others wellbeing.
QLD Health & PE Syllabus Rational: “Students are encouraged to act in culturally appropriate ways to enhance health & wellbeing & to promote structures in society which support their own and others health & wellbeing” Yoga provides techniques and opportunities that promote a positive relationship within ourselves and towards others.
QLD. Health & PE Syllabus Key Learning Outcomes: “To enhance their own & others self concept and self esteem & develop skills for creating & maintaining positive interactions & relationships.”
STRANDS THAT HAVE RELEVANT OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES In the NSW Personal Development Health and Physical Education Syllabus there are 8 strands, many of which have similar aims and out comes to a Yoga class. These include: 1. Gymnastics 2. Interpersonal Relationships 3. Growth and Development 4. Personal Health Choices and to a lesser degree: 7. Dance
